2tspTomato pasteor 2 medium sized tomatoes chopped

2-3wholeDried red chilli
1tspMustard seeds
1tspChana dalSplit bengal gram
1tspUrad dalSplit bengal gram
1/4tspHingor Asafoetida (Optional)
1tspGinger pasteor 1 tsp chopped ginger
1 1/2tspRed chilli powder
1/4tspTurmeric
1-2wholeGreen chilior Thai green chili or Jalapeño chopped
1/2bunchCilantrochopped for garnish
Salt to taste
1tbspcooking oil
Instructions
Cut the bread slices into 1/4 inch cubes and keep them aside.
Heat oil in a medium nonstick saucepan. Add curry leaves, dried red chili, hing, mustard seeds, urad dal and chana dal. Cook for 1 minute.
Now add chopped onions and cook until it turns pink and translucent. Add ginger paste (or chopped ginger) and cook until the raw smell of ginger disappears.
Add red chili powder and turmeric powder and cook for 30 seconds. Add tomatoes.
If using the raw tomatoes, cook until the water from the tomatoes dries and the oil leaves it's sides.
Now add the bread cubes and let the tomato mixture cover them. Add salt to taste. Stir well. Your bread umma is ready!
Remove from heat and transfer the contents to a serving bowl. Garnish with chopped cilantro.
Enjoy with a hot cuppa of coffee/ tea or with a fruit side.
