Apple Maple Cake is my simple cake recipe for those new to baking. It’s also for those who don’t prefer their desserts to be too sweet!
Ingredients!
I have a Maple syrup bottle, gifted to me by a close friend, that I always wanted to use in baking. There’s no doubt about the chemistry between maple syrup and breakfast (be it pancakes or waffles). I thought of taking a few breakfast ingredients and incorporating them in a cake.
So first step was, listing the ingredients that I wanted in my cake.
Apples are something that is available in groceries year around. It’s also a great breakfast fruit and goes well with maple syrup. Next, I wanted a nutty component that would compliment apples. Hence the third ingredient had to be walnuts.
Maple Syrup a sugar substitute?
Maple syrup is considered a natural sweetener and a healthier alternative to sugar for desserts and baking. It’s a plant sap product that has antioxidant properties. It also helps to maintain a healthy heart and immune system.
Which variety of Apples can be used for baking?
Granny Smith, Ida Red, Northern Spy, Gala, Honey-crisp, Melrose varieties, to name a few are good for baking. I used Granny Smith for this cake.
Well, I decided to bake this simple cake for our Wedding Anniversary, that would satisfy our not so sweet tooth 🙂
