Chili Garlic Paneer

Chili Garlic Paneer with Shrimp Fried Rice!
Chili Garlic Paneer with Shrimp Fried Rice!

Chili Garlic Paneer, is one of my favorite go to Indian Chinese dish. I make it as an accompaniment with fried rice, stir fry noodles or just simple plain steamed rice.

Paneer is made from the non fat part of milk. A good source of proteins and calcium (if taken in moderate amount). Use it in different forms like, cubes, burji (small bits), barbecue, fry, grill or sauté.

Are Paneer and Cottage cheese the same?

Cottage cheese and Paneer are often used as synonyms. I would like to use a word of caution here, as these two cheeses are very different in form, texture and taste.

Paneer is frequently used in Indian kitchens and hugely available across all Indian grocery stores. It’s a pressed solid that is easily cut. On the other hand, cottage cheese is drained, wet, loose curd with mild flavor, which is easily found at regular grocery stores.

Heard of Indian cuisine and Chinese cuisine. What is Indian Chinese cuisine?

Indian Chinese cuisine is an adaptation of Chinese cooking techniques and seasoning to Indian tastes. It is believed to have come into existence by a small Chinese community living in Kolkata (prominent Metropolis in East India), India, over a century ago.

Now, let’s create magic with this simple and quick recipe!

  • 1 1/2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tsp White Vinegar

  • In the meantime, take a small bowl and add cornflour and water to it. Dissolve the flour. Add this to the boiling mixture in the pan and cook for 2 minutes or until it comes to a boil. Add salt to taste.
  • Finally add the paneer cubes and let it cook for 2 minutes.

To make a gluten-free version, use coconut aminos instead of soy sauce.
